Dr Maxine Brain B.V.Sc. M.A.C.V.Sc. Maxine graduated with honours from the University of Melbourne in 1987. After graduating Maxine worked in predominately equine practices including nearly 4 years at Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital. Maxine opened her own practice in 2000 as a sole practitioner and has quickly built up the practice to now include another 4 full time and 1 part time veterinarians. Dr Anita Burke B.Sc. B.V.M.S Anita graduated from Murdoch University in Perth in 1999 and did a year of mixed practice before joining Maxine in 2001. She has worked with horses most of her life and gets up extra early every morning to work Standardbred horses. Anita has built up a strong rapport and lifelong relationships with many of our clients and is an integral part of our team. Anita has a very kind, patient and calm demeanour and is often called upon to pass on her wide range of knowledge and skills to Vet Students and her colleges. Dr Ann Maastricht B.V.Sc Ann graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2009 and spent time with us during her work placement as a vet student. She then took on a role at the Ballarat Veterinary Practice in the Equine hospital as an intern in Equine Medicine and Surgery. Early in 2011, after completion of her internship Ann worked part-time at Woofpurnay Veterinary Services, before joining us at the Kilmore Equine Clinic and has settled in well to the daily routine associated with being a busy equine practitioner. Ann spends her spare time with her own three horses having lessons and is about to resume riding Dressage competitively. Ann's compassionate nature and dedication to her job make her a great addition to our team and she looks forward to continuing to refine her diagnostic and reproductive skills during the upcoming breeding season. Dr Alison Miles B.V.Sc Alison graduated from University of Queensland with honours in 2000 and worked in mixed practices before moving to Victoria. Alison worked at Gisborne Veterinary clinic for 5 years but has a real passion for our equine friends, hence the reason for joining our practice in 2006. Alison is another vet in our practice that gets up early in the morning to help her husband train a team of Standardbred racehorses. She has a fantastic stable side manner and has quickly built up a great rapport with our clients. Dr Zoe Page B.V.Sc Zoe graduated with honours from the University of Sydney in 2004. Prior to this she undertook a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Genetics at La Trobe University which she graduated from in 1996.
Simone joined us in 2005 as our Practice Manager. Simone graduated with a MBA in 2004 and has 20 years experience in the banking industry. She has had a complete change of pace and is now working hard on keeping all of us in line with her vibrant and sparkling personality. Lauren Bell Lauren joined the practice in 2003 as our Vet nurse. She is currently undertaking a diploma in equine nursing. Lauren is an integral part of our practice providing assistance and support to all our veterinarians. She has a love of horses and puts her horse Smyzzee through his paces whenever she gets the chance. Lauren is always happy and cheerful and goes out of her way to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Wendy Archer Wendy joined the practice in 2001 and is one of the longest serving (and most cherished) members of our team. Wendy is our office manager and is responsible for all our bookkeeping, invoicing and general running of the office. She keeps us all sane (or insane) with her animated story telling and jovial laughter. Her knowledge of the practice and how it runs is priceless and she is always ready to give anyone a helping hand. Jenni Cooper Jenni is the newest member of our team and joined the practice in 2009. Jenni’s background includes management of a team within a call centre, working with the rangers at Macedon council and some personal assistant roles. Jenni works in our reception area and always greets visitors with a warm welcoming smile. Valerie Bell Val joined the practice in 2006 as a Veterinary Nurse and has quickly settled down and become an important member of our team. She assists in ensuring our Vets are organsied and have all the equipment they need ready to go. Lee Shanhun Lee joined us late in 2006 after 5 years of working at the Australian Equine Behaviour centre. Lee assists in the office with invoicing, answering the phone and general office duties (she makes a great coffee). Lee like all of us has a wonderful personality and is quick to offer assistance to anyone whenever possible. Lee also has horses of her own and is a keen rider with her focus now moving into competition.
